  2. HodgkinΓÇÖs disease, a form of cancer that
  3. attacks the lymph nodes in the body and
  4. stops the bodyΓÇÖs ability to fight infection.
  5. Surgeons removed the cancer, and Mario
  6. had two months of radiation treatment to
  7. kill off leftover cancer cells. Radiation is a
  8. common treatment, but it can make a
  9. person feel weak and tired. Many people
  10. did not expect Mario to be strong enough to
  11. play any more games in 1993. But he did.

  14. just 12 hours after his final radiation
  15. treatment. He played 20 minutes, and
